How Does It Work?

At Paul Davis, we conduct a careful assessment of the damage before we begin the restoration process to ensure that we address all of your restoration needs in a detailed and personalized way. Once we have completed this assessment, our in-place drying service proceeds in two stages.

  • First, as much excess water as possible is removed from the area using a weight assisted extractor called a HydroX
  • Second, the remaining water is evaporated and the area is dried using dehumidification, air movement, and heat.

How Do I Know If In-Place Drying is Right For Me?

In-place drying is the technique used after what the Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration refers to as Category 1 “clean” water damage, or damage that has been cause by clean water from a known source (such as a flood from a washing machine or bathtub). Because Category 1 water damage is the mildest form of water damage, carpets, pads and floorboards can be dried “in-place” without having to be moved or replaced. If you’ve experienced localized or minor interior water damage, in-place drying may be the right restoration technique to help you recover.
